Oh good lord! I think I would be running the other way...or I'd be beating the snot out of them. Those are ugly! Oh, I hope they aren't icky, that the creature has some redeeming value :)

get out the mothballs! looks like a scary spider web to me. hopefully the caterpillars will become butterflies and not moths =)
Hope they're not "Army Worms", because they eat leaves.......whole forests of them as they go...!!!
Those look like bagworms to me............Don't think they become moths......Recommend Napalm

tent catapillars is what your dad calls them, recommend a strong insectice.
I know they are caterpillars but all I can think about when I see those in the trees is frickin SPIDERS! Yeesh.. creepy huh?
